MCL to use Hawkesbury eSight M&T system
| As part of the company’s investment in IT systems to enhance site performance and customer reporting, the Hawkesbury eSight system went live in February 2008. This system involves remote site meter reading for steam, heat, oil and natural gas. The site monitoring equipment has been installed across virtually all 120 sites under the contract portfolio. Real time data then is fed back to head office where an automated platform signals site performance versus budget, meter advances against target and other data used for the purposes of automated M&T (for example feeding metered throughput into client production output for energy KPI measurement). Brian Perry, Managing Director of MCL Energy comments “The Hawkesbury system will allow the company to react to daily anomalies in plant performance, provide invaluable data for client reporting and provide value added services to our client base whereby other systems of M&T can be added at customers sites and integrated within a broader KPI measurement to ensure our clients remain competitive” This Hawkesbury eSight will also be used in conjunction with our other site based BEMS to ensure fast response to any problems arising and automation of energy related site systems. | |
Additional energy and steam savings at Industrial customer site
| SCA Hygiene Products (UK) Ltd is one of Europes leading producers of consumer hygiene products. MCL Energy has been managing the energy centre and supplying steam to the site since 1998 as part of a long term CEM agreement. With recent spiralling of costs for natural gas (primary fuel for steam plant) options for additional energy savings included a direct digital control system. It was difficult to extract additional energy savings given the high efficiencies already achieved by the site steam system. After an initial appraisal it was decided to go ahead with the burner conversions. Following the successful completion of the project for both burners on the 12,000kg/hr package steam boilers the site is now benefiting from an annual steam and energy saving of £100,000.00. representing a payback of approximately 5 months! The project was completed by MCL on time and on budget and with no interruption to the site steam production. This is just one of many energy saving measures implemented by MCL at one of our industrial client sites to provide additional savings to our Clients.
